Kmart has used online advertising before, but have only recently appointed an online marketing coordinator and with this comes their first online viral marketing comapaign through the use of flash games. According to AdNews, Kmart is in Australia's top 10 largest retail advertisers, spending an estimated $32.8 Million last year.
Strategy:
Kmart aim to penetrate online advertising using games as a form of viral media to promote their upcoming Super Toy Sale (starts 3rd July and lasts for 2 weeks). The games were advertised using Kmarts subscriber database.
Results:
Site traffic recorded a significant increase proving the point that interactive advertising is effective.
